Job description

Maine State Library (MSL) seeks a creative capacity builder to expand access to digital resources, strengthen digital skills, and support workforce development across Maine. This project offers the opportunity to apply your talents while developing new skills by building capacity for the Digital Maine Library (DML), Maine’s statewide collection of subscription online resources. As DML’s ambassador, you will promote its services and train librarians, workforce development professionals, and other key partners. You’ll also help develop an evaluation plan and support a website redesign to improve access and usability. You will foster state and local partnerships, promote public libraries as hubs for digital access and learning, create outreach for targeted audiences, develop self-paced training materials, monitor how DML vendors incorporate AI into their products, and create promotional strategies for stakeholders and MSL. This is an opportunity to build a statewide network of library, workforce development, and technology professionals. Most importantly, you’ll help increase digital access and economic opportunity for Maine residents. Responsibilities include: Raise awareness of DML by connecting with strategic audiences and partners. Build sustainable state and local partnerships that strengthen digital literacy and access, especially for low-income families. Develop training and promotional materials that remain useful despite staff turnover and support on-demand learning. Conduct ongoing environmental scans to identify new digital access opportunities and share relevant resources with libraries and partners. Track how DML vendors are using AI and develop communications to keep library staff and partners informed.
