Job description
As an Associate Data Scientist at SageSure, you’ll work closely with experienced data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners to analyze data, build models, and deliver insights that inform business decisions. This role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and impact, with clear opportunities for skill development and career progression.
What you’d be doing:
- Analyze large, complex datasets to perform exploratory data analysis, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.
- Support the development, validation, and deployment of predictive and statistical models under the guidance of senior team members.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business questions and translate them into analytical approaches.
- Assist with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to support analytics workflows and data pipelines.
- Contribute to the documentation of analyses, models, and methodologies to promote transparency and repeatability.
- Present findings and recommendations to team members and stakeholders in a clear, structured, and thoughtful way.
- Apply best practices in data quality, version control, and reproducibility.
- Continuously develop technical and business skills through feedback, mentoring, and hands-on experience.

SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking an Associate Data Scientist to join our Data Science team. The Associate Data Scientist role is an entry-level, full-time position designed for early-career professionals who are ready to apply their academic foundation in data science to real-world business challenges. This role is a natural next step for Pioneer Trainees who are graduating and transitioning into full-time employment, as well as for other early-career candidates with strong analytical skills and a desire to grow within the insurance and analytics space., * A Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with working proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience working with data to answer questions, test hypotheses, or support decision-making.
- Ability to clearly communicate insights and recommendations in both written and verbal formats.
- A curiosity-driven mindset with a willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and domains.
- Ability to manage tasks independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Interest in applying data science within a business context, ideally within insurance, technology, or financial services.
Highly Preferred Candidates Also Have:
- Prior internship or experience in data science, analytics, or a related technical role.
- Exposure to machine learning techniques, statistical modeling, or forecasting.
- Experience working with BI or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms or modern data stacks.
- Strong academic performance (e.g., GPA of 3.0 or higher).
- Experience working on team-based or cross-functional projects.
