Job description
Insight Global is looking to hire a TS/SCI cleared Systems Engineer for one of our clients, sitting onsite at the Pentagon. This role supports DoD cryptographic modernization and key management efforts at the enterprise level, with a focus on evaluating current and legacy systems, architectures, and security solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong systems engineering background and experience analyzing enterprise capabilities, assessing impacts and risks, and developing recommendations that support modernization and improve security posture.
Responsibilities include:
- Research, develop, and support the evolution of DoD cryptographic modernization and key management policies and procedures to improve the protection, storage, organization, and distribution of encryption keys.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of systems and system types, including analysis of trend, resource, and schedule impacts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, ensure alignment with higher-level guidance, and advocate for DoD interests.
- Provide systems engineering recommendations and review impacts from NDAA, OMB, Joint Chiefs, and National Manager directives.
- Support policy development related to Key Management Infrastructure (KMI), Key Management Enterprise (KME), and Communications Security (COMSEC).
- Coordinate efforts across acquisition programs and support enterprise modernization initiatives.
- Develop and review briefings, white papers, technical reports, and other materials for senior leadership.
- Collaborate with DoD CIO organizations and external agencies, including DISA, NIST, USCYBERCOM, NSA, and other DoD components, as directed by the Government Project Lead.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI Security clearance
- 12+ years of related experience and a master’s degree (in a technical field) OR 14+ years of experience and a Bachelor’s Degree (in a technical field), OR 18+ years of experience in a related professional environment in lieu of a degree

Experience developing and evaluating security policies, standards, and procedures to strengthen organizational security posture and support modernization efforts
- Experience as a Systems Engineer supporting enterprise-level systems and architectures
- Experience assessing and evaluating systems, architectures, and enterprise-level solutions (including experience evaluating systems, architectures, and system components)
- Experience analyzing current and legacy systems to identify risks, impacts, and modernization opportunities
- Experience developing and evaluating security policies, standards, and procedures
- Experience reviewing and analyzing technical, policy, or programmatic guidance and assessing impacts to systems or programs
- Experience analyzing current and legacy systems and developing recommendations for modernization, risk mitigation, and security improvements
- Experience developing and presenting briefings, white papers, technical reports, and recommendations for leadership
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting DoD cryptographic modernization initiatives
- Experience with key management, encryption technologies, or communications security (COMSEC)
- Experience supporting KMI or KME efforts
- Experience supporting DoD CIO, OSD, or other enterprise-level DoD organizations
- Experience reviewing or assessing impacts from NDAA, OMB, Joint Chiefs, NSA, or National Manager guidance
- Experience coordinating efforts across acquisition programs
- Experience working with organizations such as DISA, NIST, USCYBERCOM, NSA, or other DoD components
Benefits & conditions
$60.00/hr to $69.71/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
