Job description

We are seeking an experienced Site Design Engineer to develop and optimize site layouts for fuel cell and distributed power generation systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong civil/site engineering background, experience working with EPC firms, and the ability to develop cost-effective, safe, and code-compliant solutions for complex energy and industrial projects.

This role involves working closely with customers, EPC partners, contractors, and internal engineering teams to manage technical requirements and deliver efficient site designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize site layouts for fuel cell and power generation systems.
  • Design equipment placement, utility connections, access, power distribution interfaces, auxiliary systems, and future expansion areas.
  • Work directly with customers to understand site constraints and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with EPC firms, civil engineering partners, contractors, and internal engineering teams.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce installation costs through modular construction, prefabrication, and improved construction methods.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable construction standards, safety regulations, zoning, permitting, and local codes.
  • Coordinate site infrastructure, including electrical, water/cooling, drainage, gas/hydrogen supply, ventilation, and utility connections.
  • Conduct site surveys and assess infrastructure, space, grading, utility, and foundation requirements.
  • Prepare site layouts, construction drawings, permitting documentation, and technical reports.
  • Support installation, construction coordination, and commissioning activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in site design for complex energy, power generation, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong civil/site engineering experience and experience working with EPC firms.
  • Experience developing site layouts using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of permitting, zoning, utility coordination, construction standards, and site development.
  • Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage technical requirements across customers, EPC firms, contractors, and engineering teams., * Experience with fuel cells, distributed generation, power plants, renewable energy, or data centers.
  • Experience with modular construction or prefabricated systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution, backup power, energy storage, or hybrid energy systems.
  • Experience supporting installation or commissioning activities.

Travel

Approximately 30%-40% travel to customer and project sites for site surveys, project coordination, and construction support.

Pay: $35.00 - $36.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Site Design: 5 years (Required)
