Job description

  • Design foundry tooling using Creo CAD software while following established standards and best practices for no-bake molding processes.
  • Develop new pattern and core box tooling designs to support production and new product requirements.
  • Prepare tooling RFQs and support tooling quotation activities.
  • Analyze casting defects and scrap issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform tooling redesigns, re-gating activities, and process improvements to improve casting quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct casting flow simulations using SolidCast or similar software.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, tool designers, programmers, pattern makers, and technicians to support tooling development and production goals.
  • Work directly with suppliers on tooling build projects, providing technical guidance and project oversight.
  • Interpret machining drawings and geometric tolerances to ensure tooling accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and lead-time reduction.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in foundry engineering, tooling design, CAD modeling, and casting simulation, along with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams., * Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant foundry engineering and tooling design experience.
  • Experience designing pattern and core box tooling in a foundry environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Creo CAD software.
  • Experience with casting simulation software (SolidCast preferred).
  • Knowledge of no-bake and cold box molding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret machining prints and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience analyzing and resolving casting defects and process-related issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions., * CNC machining or milling knowledge.
  • Experience working with external tooling suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Advanced experience with tooling layouts, clearances, offsets, and parting line development.
