Job description
This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Engineer with proven casting industry experience to play a key role in the design and development of tooling and components for a wide range of engineered products. The successful candidate will work closely with production and manufacturing teams to develop practical, cost-effective designs that support efficient manufacturing processes., * Design cast components, tooling and manufacturing solutions using SolidWorks.
- Produce detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Design dies, core boxes, moulding tools and associated tooling for casting processes.
- Work closely with production, foundry and machining departments to ensure designs are suitable for manufacture.
- Modify and improve existing designs to enhance quality, manufacturability and efficiency.
- Support new product development from concept through to production.
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
- Ensure designs comply with customer specifications, quality standards and manufacturing requirements.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across design and manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Design Engineer within a casting, foundry or tooling environment.
- Strong SolidWorks experience.
- Proven experience designing dies, core boxes and moulding tools.
- Understanding of brass and/or aluminium casting processes.
- Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a manufacturing environment.
Desirable
- Experience working within a foundry or precision engineering environment.
- Knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting new product development.
- Familiarity with 3D printing or additive manufacturing technologies.
- Mechanical Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
