In this role, you will design, program, implement, and support robotic and automated systems used in a manufacturing environment to improve production efficiency, quality, and safety. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop automation solutions, program and troubleshoot PLCs and robotic equipment, optimize system performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical and problem-solving skills, experience with industrial automation and PLC programming, attention to detail, and a passion for innovation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Roles & Responsibilities The essential functions of the Robotics System Engineer position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain, develop, and implement robotic solutions to automate modular construction processes
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance robotic systems
  • Program and support robots, PLCs, HMIs, and camera systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency and optimize production processes
  • Analyze and troubleshoot logic, electrical, and mechanical issues
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and innovative automation strategies
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by leadership or supervision

Physical Requirements & Work Environment This position works in a manufacturing and construction environment and requires regular physical activity throughout the shift. The employee must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the workday
  • Frequently use hands and arms to handle tools, materials, equipment, and components
  • Frequently bend, twist, reach, kneel, crouch, and climb as needed to perform essential job duties
  • Lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Occasionally work at heights, on ladders, or from elevated platforms when required by the assignment
  • Maintain awareness of moving equipment, forklifts, automated machinery, and other production activities
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety footwear, or other protection required for the work area
  • Work in varying temperatures, noise levels, dust conditions, and manufacturing environments
  • Visually inspect materials, components, and finished products for quality and safety standards
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership regarding safety, production, and quality concerns

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in robotics, automation, and process optimization, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems.
  • Experience programming PLCs using Structured Text, with B&R Automation Studio experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in ABB robot programming using RAPID.
  • Experience developing and supporting Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting capabilities in automated manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient in software development, robotic system programming, and automation system integration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to robotics and industrial automation.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, or automated production environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and upholding company values.
