Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated, technically strong, hands-on Full Stack Developer to join our App Dev & Infrastructure team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, takes ownership of their work, and can independently drive projects from design through implementation.

The Full Stack Developer requires close collaboration with technical team members, project stakeholders, and City agencies. Responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and APIs using modern web technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Build responsive, intuitive, and accessible user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and recommend technical improvements and best practices.
  • Perform code reviews and contribute to maintaining high coding standards.
  • Develop automated tests and ensure application reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and production issues across the full technology stack.
  • Maintain technical documentation, source code repositories, and deployment procedures.
  • Work closely with the City’s Cyber Command to ensure applications meet security accreditation requirements.
  • Support existing applications while contributing to new development initiatives.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties and special technology initiatives as assigned., Hours/Shift: Day - Due to the necessary duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings, The successful candidate will be more than just a developer they will be a proactive problem solver, capable of analyzing requirements, proposing technical solutions, and delivering high-quality software with minimal supervision. We are looking for someone who is curious, self-motivated, and continuously seeks opportunities to improve systems, processes, and the overall user experience. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who communicates effectively, shares knowledge, welcomes feedback, and builds productive working relationships while taking ownership of assigned initiatives and is passionate about building high-quality software and possesses a strong balance of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and collaboration skills. The successful candidate should demonstrate: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - Demonstrated experience as a Full Stack Developer with strong expertise across both front-end and back-end technologies. - Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, debugging, and supporting production applications. - Solid understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, authentication, web security principles, and modern application architecture. - Experience with React, Angular, or Vue.js and proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. - Experience with SQL and databases. - Experience with Git and modern software development workflows. - Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices. - Knowledge of JSON, XML, XSD, WSDL, JDBC, MQ, and SOAP concepts. - Experience working within Agile software development methodologies. In addition to technical qualifications, we are seeking someone who: - Is a self-starter who takes initiative and requires minimal day-to-day direction. - Thinking critically and proactively identifies opportunities to improve applications, processes, and system performance. - Demonstrates strong ownership and accountability for delivering high-quality solutions. - Has excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills and enjoys solving complex technical problems. - Is comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment. - Builds strong working relationships with peers and management, particularly with the direct supervisor, and communicates openly and professionally. - Is adaptable, eager to learn new technologies, and continuously improves technical skills. - Takes pride in writing clean, maintainable, well-documented, and production-ready code. Requirements

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

  2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

  3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

  4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1”, “2”, or “3” above.
