Job description

Are you structured, curious, and passionate about making complex technology easy to use? Intralox, one of the world’s leading innovators in conveyance solutions, is looking for a UX Automation Designer to join our Controls Product Engineering team. You’ll help shape a scalable user experience ecosystem for customer-facing automation solutions used in industrial manufacturing environments. Why this role matters You’ll join the Integration Smart Carryway (ISC) team within Controls Product Engineering. Working with colleagues across Europe, the U.S., China, and Brazil, the team supports automation platforms that are expanding beyond Activated Roller Belt (ARB ) equipment into areas such as spirals and water systems. We bring together automation engineering, human-centered design, and industrial data visualization to create solutions that are reliable, intuitive, and easy to support. In this role, you’ll look beyond individual screens or projects and help establish a recognizable UX approach across our automation portfolio. You’ll make complex systems easier to operate, maintain, commission, and troubleshoot for customers, operators, supervisors, maintenance teams, and Lifecycle Services colleagues. Your work will help reduce learning time, improve system availability, and enable users to recover more quickly from disruptions. Job Responsibilities and Requirements What you’ll do:

  • Assess current interfaces, workflows, and user needs to identify opportunities for a simpler and more consistent experience across our automation portfolio
  • Develop a scalable UX framework, including design principles, navigation, terminology, visualization standards, templates, and reusable components, to reduce variation and create a recognizable Intralox experience
  • Design and validate HMIs, dashboards, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to help operators, supervisors, and maintenance teams work more effectively
  • Turn equipment status, trends, alarms, diagnostics, and performance data into clear, actionable visualizations to support faster decisions and improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Test the UX approach through pilot solutions and user research to refine the framework and support its adoption across products and regions
  • Collaborate with product managers, automation engineers, product teams, Integration, and Lifecycle Services to solve usability challenges with the needs of customers and users in mind
  • Coach product development teams on UX principles and reusable design practices to build a consistent and sustainable UX capability across Intralox

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Automation/Controls Engineering, or a related field
  • At least five years of relevant experience in UX/UI design, industrial automation, HMI design, software product development, data visualization, or a related area (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Strong knowledge of UX/UI principles, research methods, prototyping, usability validation, and human-centered design, with proficiency in Figma, Maze, or comparable tools
  • Experience turning complex technical or operational information into clear user flows, interfaces, visualizations, and reusable design patterns
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work in a self-managed, cross-functional, and international environment
  • An interest in industrial manufacturing
  • A valid passport and willingness to travel occasionally

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience applying high-performance HMI and industrial data visualization principles, including dashboards for equipment performance, trends, alarms, diagnostics, or OEE-related information
  • Experience establishing or governing a design system, component library, UX standard, or reusable interface framework across multiple products or platforms
  • Familiarity with industrial HMI, SCADA, and visualization platforms such as FactoryTalk Optix, CODESYS Visualization/WebVisu, Ignition, Siemens WinCC or WinCC Unified, TIA Portal HMI, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, Node-RED, Grafana, or webHMI
