The role offers a varied mix of operational support and project-based activity, providing exposure to a broad range of infrastructure technologies. You will work both remotely and on-site, engaging directly with customers and colleagues to deliver effective technical solutions.

The Role

As a 2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining a diverse infrastructure environment, while contributing to project delivery and continuous service improvement.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 2nd line infrastructure support across a range of technologies.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical incidents through to customer satisfaction.
  • Supporting both Business as Usual (BAU) operations and project activities.
  • Providing remote and on-site technical support.
  • Participating in an out-of-hours on-call support rota.
  • Contributing to the creation, maintenance and improvement of technical documentation.
  • Supporting project deliverables and ensuring compliance with agreed milestones, KPIs and SLAs.
  • Working autonomously while taking ownership of assigned technical activities.
  • Communicating effectively with customers, colleagues and wider technical teams.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have strong infrastructure experience across a range of technologies, ideally including:

  • Virtualisation: VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Microsoft Windows Server: including OS builds, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy, from design through to implementation and support.
  • Linux: strong system administration skills, particularly Ubuntu and CentOS.
  • Networking: TCP/IP, networking technologies, load balancing and Firewalls.
  • Microsoft technologies: SharePoint, Skype for Business/Teams, SQL Server, System Centre, Office 365 and Exchange.
  • PowerShell and command-line tooling.
  • Storage: good knowledge of SAN technologies.
