Job description
The Shelf-Ready Services Technician performs critical, high-volume data and physical processing tasks that ensure library materials are shelf-ready for our clients across the country. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to maintain efficient production goals while handling valuable client resources with care. Technicians are integral members of the Shelf-Ready Services team, striving to become experts in library technical services, resource description, and physical processing techniques to deliver the highest quality service in the industry., * Perform physical processing tasks, such as applying labels (e.g., call numbers, barcodes), security strips, and protective coverings (e.g., book jackets), ensuring adherence to strict specifications.
- Execute precise data processing tasks, including editing, customizing, and validating MARC records and local holdings data according to detailed client profiles.
- Meet daily and weekly production standards for both volume and accuracy, contributing to the departmentās 3-5 day turnaround goal.
- Operate and maintain proficiency with internal processing management software, Integrated Library Systems (ILS), and standard office equipment.
- Maintain the integrity and security of all client materials and data while actively participating in quality control and process improvement efforts.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with the Shelf-Ready Services Manager regarding workflow issues, quality concerns, and training needs.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Technical Proficiency?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Experience: Six (6) months of experience in a high-volume production, data entry, library processing, or detail-focused environment.
- Skills: Demonstrated competency with computers, and the ability to quickly learn specialized data management software.
- Aptitude: Proven ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently, while maintaining extremely high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to handle and lift library materials, as well as push loaded book trucks as part of the daily workflow., * Education: A Bachelorās degree (BA/BS) in a related field.
- Library Experience: Prior experience in a library technical services, cataloging, or circulation department.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with library data standards, such as MARC or the Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system.
- Production Experience: Experience in data entry or quality control for production lines., * High school or equivalent (Required)
