Job description

The Low Voltage Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and competitive bids for commercial low voltage systems including structured cabling, AV, and security. This role plays a critical part in project acquisition by interpreting plans, performing take-offs, and collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and clients to deliver winning proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret Division 27 and 28 drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Perform detailed material and labor take-offs using tools like Bluebeam Revu
  • Develop accurate estimates using labor models, BOMs, and internal metrics
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams for scope clarity and pricing
  • Prepare complete bid packages including assumptions, exclusions, and value engineering options
  • Respond to RFIs, ASIs, and addenda to ensure accurate and up-to-date estimates
  • Support client relationships by following up on proposals and maintaining communication
  • Participate in pre-construction and project kickoff meetings for smooth project handoff
  • Track pricing trends and maintain vendor relationships
  • Utilize estimating platforms such as Accubid, Esticom, NetSuite, and Excel models

Systems Experience

  • Structured Cabling: Cat6, Cat6A, OM3/OM4 fiber, single-mode, IDF/MDF buildouts
  • Audio Visual: Digital signage, paging systems, conference rooms, DSP systems
  • Security Systems: IP CCTV, access control, electrified hardware
  • Sound Masking systems

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of low voltage estimating, field design, or related experience
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling, AV, and security systems
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings, bid sets, and specifications
  • Proficiency with estimating software, Bluebeam Revu, and Excel
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, * RCDD certification or equivalent design experience (BICSI a plus)
  • Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
  • Experience coordinating with general contractors, architects, and electrical contractors

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to perform occasional jobsite walkthroughs
  • Ability to work extended hours during bid deadlines if needed
