Job description

  • Own and evolve core backend and billing services end-to-end.
  • Design, build and maintain backend services and their AWS deployment pipelines.
  • Manage and evolve our timeseries data stack (e.g. QuestDB) that underpins device and energy analytics.
  • diagnose and resolve production issues across cloud and device code.
  • Support teammates who are blocked on code or infrastructure, and share architectural knowledge across the team.
  • Apply solid software design practices (e.g. domain-driven design, microservice patterns) and contribute to version releases across INT/ACC/PROD environments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience building backend services (Node.js/TypeScript or comparable) in production.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. Lambda, CDK) for deploying and operating cloud-native services.
  • Experience with timeseries or high-volume data pipelines (e.g. QuestDB, Timestream, InfluxDB or similar).
  • Working knowledge of device/IoT integration and data scraping, or a strong willingness to learn it.
  • Solid understanding of microservice, API-driven and domain-driven design (DDD).
  • Comfortable using observability tooling (e.g. CloudWatch, Sentry) to diagnose issues in production.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to support and accelerate technical work.
  • Solid grasp of security requirements for cloud and connected devices, and how to actually implement them (secure-by-design APIs, secrets and key management, least-privilege IAM)
  • Awareness of the compliance landscape our platform operates in (GDPR, NIS2, CRA) and able to translate current and upcoming obligations into concrete architectural and release decisions.

Soft skills

  • Strong communicator who can explain technical trade-offs clearly to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike.
  • A generalist mindset, comfortable moving between application code, infrastructure and device-level integration rather than staying in one narrow lane.
  • High degree of ownership and reliability; you follow through without needing to be chased.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving scale-up environment, and proactive about proposing improvements.
  • Open to doing thorough code reviews and sharing knowledge, not just shipping your own work.
  • Able to link the dots across systems and communicate clearly when diagnosing what broke and why.
  • Willing to support teammates who are blocked, even outside your own area of ownership.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the energy sector (IoT platforms, smart metering, renewables, billing/tariff engines).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and error-tracking tools (e.g. Sentry) beyond native cloud logging.
  • Familiarity with real-time/distributed database migrations.
  • A track record of introducing unit-test coverage into existing codebases.
  • Exposure to serverless architecture patterns and infrastructure as code (e.g. AWS CDK).
  • Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, MQTT, etc.).
  • Experience applying domain-driven design (DDD) principles in production services.
  • Comfortable contributing to release and deployment coordination across multiple environments (INT/ACC/PROD).
  • Experience coordinating hardware/software integration projects (embedded + cloud systems).

Benefits & conditions

  • Hybrid working and flexible working hours within an explorative, and growing company.
  • A friendly and dynamic team, united by a shared mission: delivering the best energy management solutions.
  • A creative environment where your commercial insights and contributions are highly valued, with room to shape strategies and make an impact.
  • The opportunity to quickly take on significant responsibility in a scaling organization.
  • A compensation package aligned with your experience, skills, and added value to the company.
