Senior Test Engineer

As a Senior Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the testing of applications which make up citizen services, with a particular focus on automation and performance testing. This includes defining the appropriate depth and breadth of testing using a risk-based approach, ensuring services are scalable, stable, robust and reliable under expected and peak demand. You will work with other teams within the Software Development Lifecycle to ensure that technical solutions are aligned and meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

As a Senior Test Engineer, your main responsibilities will be to: . Build and maintain automated test solutions using Playwright. . Deliver performance and load testing using K6 and similar tools. . Support testing of event driven architectures and distributed systems. . Integrate automated test suites into GitLab CI/CD pipelines. . Identify and resolve defects, performance issues and system bottlenecks. . Develop reusable automation components and testing utilities. . Collaborate with multiple Agile delivery teams to support end to end quality assurance. . Define test strategies, reporting and quality metrics. . Promote best practice across automation, performance and quality engineering. . Mentor team members and contribute to the wider Test Engineering community.

Hands-on experience with K6 (or similar with willingness to learn K6 in a short period). . Hands-on experience with Playwright for browser testing. . Comfortable working with event-driven architecture using technologies such as Kafka. . Experience integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines (ideally GitLab). . Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary Agile team and understanding Agile delivery principles, methodologies and tools.

Desirable: . Experience working with Spring Boot, Node.js and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB. . Experience analysing and tuning cloud based systems, ideally running in AWS. . Public sector experience.
