Microsoft Azure Identity and Access Management Runbook

Job description

Azure DevOps Engineer - Strategy and Setup Long Term Contract 100% Remote, Audit existing ADO organizations, projects, teams, and boards to catalog current-state configurations, custom fields, work item types, and workflows. Identify redundancies, inconsistencies, and gaps across teams (e.g., differing definitions of “Epic,” “Feature,” “Story,” inconsistent state models, non-standard swimlanes). Design a unified, scalable work item hierarchy and process template (e.g., standardized Epic * Feature * Story * Task structure) that balances team-level flexibility with organizational consistency. Governance & Standards Define and document ADO configuration standards: naming conventions, area/iteration path structures, tagging taxonomies, custom field usage, and permission models. Establish a governance model for ongoing board creation, template changes, and access management to prevent future sprawl. Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and training materials for teams adopting the new structure

Requirements

The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on ADO administration expertise with strong program/process design skills and the ability to translate messy, team-specific configurations into a governed, enterprise-ready structure that supports portfolio-level reporting, roadmapping, and resource planning.
