Java Developer

This individual will work closely with other team members to design, code, and test utilizing Spring Batch architecture within JAVA, and utilize other emerging technologies within the cloud-based architecture. The developer will also interact with our Cloud Architecture teams to ensure existing and future development tasks meet code quality standards and utilize best practices for efficient batch processing. Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops, deploys, and maintains complex operating systems and operating system software - Installs enhancements and performs updates to software of existing systems, including middleware and application programs that run on the system.
• Performs troubleshooting of complex problems and provides customer support for software systems and application issues.
• Debugs complex problems with system software. Provides recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Performs maintenance tasks to keep systems running smoothly - Writes and updates test procedures and programs.
• May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals May serve as a team or task lead.

• Stay up to date with cutting edge technologies and think of ways to apply these in order to improve the current project’s application(s). Position Responsibilities (Junior Software Specialist Level):

• Provides assistance in all aspects of hardware and software development from design through implementation and the maintenance of upgrading existing software solutions.
• Analyzes, designs, specifies, documents, or implements hardware and software solutions, with a focus on batch processing applications and JAVA-based development.
• Supports coding, unit testing, and debugging of Spring Batch jobs under the guidance of senior developers.
• Assists in troubleshooting batch processing issues and provides recommendations to senior team members.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

• This position requires 3 years of experience. Experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution. Education/Experience Substitutions:

• Associate Degree - 5 years of related experience
• MA/MS - 1 year of related experience
• Doctorate Degree/Ph.D. - 0 years of related experience
• Demonstrated experience in development, operations, and support of enterprise systems.
• Work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position. Candidate must have 3 of the last 5 years of work history in the US and will be required to go through a public trust background investigation.
