Job description
We are currently supporting a technology-focused organisation in Eindhoven that is looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join their team on a freelance basis. This is a hands-on role covering both low-level Linux development and microcontroller firmware, with the opportunity to work across different technical challenges as project requirements evolve. You’ll be working primarily with C and C++, moving between kernel-level development, embedded firmware and technical research. The Role You’ll play an important role in developing and refining embedded software across both Linux-based systems and microcontroller platforms. The projects are fast-moving, so you’ll need to be comfortable switching between development, debugging and research as priorities change. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining embedded software using C and C++
- Writing, debugging and maintaining Linux kernel device drivers
- Developing firmware for Nordic nRF microcontrollers
- Working with Zephyr RTOS and bare-metal embedded C
- Investigating and researching technical solutions to support evolving project requirements

Requirements
We’re looking for someone with strong hands-on embedded development experience who can work comfortably at a low level. You’ll ideally have:
- Strong proficiency in C and C++
- Proven experience developing Linux kernel-level device drivers
- Hands-on experience with microcontroller development
- Experience working with Nordic nRF chipsets
- Familiarity with Zephyr RTOS and bare-metal embedded C
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where project requirements can change quickly
- A research-driven approach to solving unfamiliar technical challenges
