Job description

We are currently supporting a technology-focused organisation in Eindhoven that is looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join their team on a freelance basis. This is a hands-on role covering both low-level Linux development and microcontroller firmware, with the opportunity to work across different technical challenges as project requirements evolve. You’ll be working primarily with C and C++, moving between kernel-level development, embedded firmware and technical research. The Role You’ll play an important role in developing and refining embedded software across both Linux-based systems and microcontroller platforms. The projects are fast-moving, so you’ll need to be comfortable switching between development, debugging and research as priorities change. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining embedded software using C and C++
  • Writing, debugging and maintaining Linux kernel device drivers
  • Developing firmware for Nordic nRF microcontrollers
  • Working with Zephyr RTOS and bare-metal embedded C
  • Investigating and researching technical solutions to support evolving project requirements
  • Adapting quickly to changing priorities and iterating on solutions throughout the project, If you’re an Embedded Software Engineer with experience across Linux drivers and microcontroller firmware and are available for a new freelance project in Eindhoven, we’d like to hear from you. Apply now with your CV, and one of our consultants will be in touch if you are shortlisted to discuss the project in more detail.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone with strong hands-on embedded development experience who can work comfortably at a low level. You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong proficiency in C and C++
  • Proven experience developing Linux kernel-level device drivers
  • Hands-on experience with microcontroller development
  • Experience working with Nordic nRF chipsets
  • Familiarity with Zephyr RTOS and bare-metal embedded C
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where project requirements can change quickly
  • A research-driven approach to solving unfamiliar technical challenges
