Job description

We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer to join a small team supporting a complex, multi-technology application. The role involves day-to-day operational support, service improvement and the successful implementation of system changes in line with agreed service levels., Provide application support, managing incidents, problems, service requests and changes in line with SLAs. Diagnose and resolve technical issues, ensuring effective service recovery and accurate service records. Support system changes, small enhancements and proactive application management, including health checks, patching and monitoring. Liaise with clients, subcontractors and development teams, including occasional travel to UK datacentres. Produce service and critical incident reports, maintain technical documentation and manage service-related risks. Drive continual service improvement, identify change opportunities and mentor other support engineers., This is a fully onsite role in London, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm. Occasional travel to client sites across the UK may be required.

Requirements

This is an opportunity for a proactive and adaptable engineer who can work independently, take ownership of technical issues and build effective relationships with clients and technical teams. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued support and development of a critical application within a secure environment., Proven experience in application support, ideally within a complex, multi-technology environment.

  • Strong incident identification, investigation, resolution and recovery skills.
  • Experience working to service level agreements and established service management processes. ITIL 4 Foundation. Linux experience. Apache NiFi experience. Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills. A proactive, independent and adaptable approach. Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative. Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.

Desirable skills and experience

  • experience with software development lifecycles.
  • Technical assurance and task management.
  • Client interaction and communications management. Active Directory (ADDS). DNS and network routing. IPSEC / cryptography. PKI and certificate management. Cisco IOS. Docker. Jira, including custom plugins. RSA. VMware. MySQL and MongoDB. ELK Stack. Networks and infrastructure.

Additional relevant training or certifications, including cloud training such as AWS, would be advantageous.
