Job description

Director of Technology Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Collaborate with and support colleagues in order to function as a unified department.

  • Proficiency with any of the following: Anti-Virus, HIPS, ID/PS, Full Packet Capture, Host-Based Forensics, Network Forensics, and RSA Security.
  • Understanding of mobile technology and OS (i.e. Android, iOS, Windows), Virtualization technology, and Linux and basic Linux commands.
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports, and protocols.
  • Possess hands-on experience analyzing network data.
  • Be able to, Essential Functions * Collaborates with Technology Team members to share day-to-day operations and management duties.
  • Protects information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems.
  • Protects systems by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources. (Collaborates with technology team members to plan and implement cybersecurity best practices).
  • Grants credentials to authorized users, monitors access-related activities, and checks for unregistered information changes.
  • Recommends and implements security improvements by assessing the current situation, conducting a gap analysis, and leading remediation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
  • Identifies and reports security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits.
  • Recommends system upgrades and ensures security controls are implemented.
  • Regularly communicates to stakeholders important cybersecurity information.
  • Help lead employee training against phishing and other forms of cyberattack.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications.
  • Adheres to federal, state, local, and board rules and regulations.
  • Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to the district’s absence management system in a timely manner.
  • Reports to work on time and regularly as designated by work schedule
  • Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment The terms of employment shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s Policy Manual, Students First Act, and the Board’s Salary Schedule – Specialist. Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.

Requirements

Qualifications * Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience with 3+ years or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience with 2+ years of prior relevant experience.

  • Preferred Advanced certifications.
  • Preferred K12 networking and data systems.
  • Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Job requires travel. Required to provide own vehicle and appropriate insurance and possess a valid driver’s license for travel between district locations., * Work with system administration
