Job description

Every donation that moves through the GiveCampus platform passes through the Online Giving team’s code. This team owns the giving experience itself: mobile-first Giving Forms and Giving Pages, payment processing across Stripe, ACH, and Digital Wallets, recurring giving, Memberships, and the tools schools use to build and personalize their fundraising campaigns., * Build and maintain donor-facing giving forms, giving pages, and admin tools with a focus on conversion, accessibility, and mobile-first design.

  • Build and harden payment flows-one-time, recurring, and memberships-across Stripe, ACH, and Digital Wallets, with strong reliability and observability.
  • Work across the full stack, from UI components to backend services to database tuning and performance.
  • Own projects end to end: architecture, coding, automated testing, deployment, and support in production.
  • Partner closely with your pod’s Product Manager, Designer, and fellow engineers to turn user needs and business goals into technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineers earlier in their careers and help them grow in their craft.
  • Contribute to team-wide initiatives including coding standards, technical debt refinement, and system security monitoring.
  • Participate in interviewing and onboarding, and help us keep improving how we hire.
  • Support the platform on a rotational basis, including team-based support and a paired 24/7 on-call rotation. Support work includes payment and deposit reconciliation, recurring-gift issues, reporting fixes, and partner configuration requests.

There’s also an opportunity to step into a Tech Lead role, which means working with the PM on implementation trade-offs and work breakdown, proposing and validating the technical approach for the pod’s roadmap, and helping set schedules and milestones.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on, real-world development experience.
  • Full-stack proficiency: a modern front-end framework (React or Vue.js) plus a backend language and framework (Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Python, or similar). Rails and React experience is preferred.
  • System design experience, with a focus on solutions that can be implemented incrementally while keeping an eye on scale and resilience.
  • Strong SQL database skills: schema design, query optimization, and a real concern for data integrity.
  • API design and integration experience with RESTful services.
  • A test-driven mindset: unit, integration, and end-to-end testing as part of how you build.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Sharp debugging instincts, including in production, and the judgment to balance shipping quickly against long-term maintainability.
  • Clear communication, comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities, and genuine ownership from conception through deployment and maintenance.
  • A user-focused mindset: you think about how engineering decisions land for donors, school administrators, and fundraising results.

Bonus points if you have

  • Payments experience: Stripe or a comparable platform, ACH, digital wallets, webhooks, idempotency and retries, reconciliation, and testing against third-party services. This is the single strongest signal for this team.
  • Deep expertise with Ruby on Rails and RSpec.
  • Experience building high-conversion, consumer-facing checkout or donation flows.
  • Experience on a fundraising, crowdfunding, fintech, or e-commerce product.
  • Postgres administration experience, or familiarity with caching, networking, and triaging performance and stability issues.
  • Experience shipping code that supports tens of thousands of users, including enterprise customers.
  • A good eye for intuitive, user-friendly front-end design.

About the company

GiveCampus is the world’s leading fundraising platform for non-profit educational institutions. Trusted by millions of donors and 1,300+ colleges, universities, and K-12 schools, our mission is to help advance the quality, the affordability, and the accessibility of education. At our current pace, we will facilitate $100 billion in charitable giving over the next decade-enough money to send more than 1 million students to college, tuition-free.

GiveCampus is backed by leading investors including Y Combinator, but we’re also practitioners of Sustainable Growth: we’ve made the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies each of the last five years and we’ve been profitable nine of the last 10. In 2025, we celebrated a $140 million growth investment that included a major liquidity event for GiveCampus employees-the second in less than three years.

Our purpose-driven team of 130+ is located in 30+ states across the US: team members work from anywhere they choose. We have a beautiful 12,000sf office in Washington, DC that is available for people to use whenever they want, and we regularly organize team meet-ups, visit partner institutions, and host retreats in various locations.

While we operate at meaningful scale, we’re still small relative to the commercial and social good opportunities in front of us. Every GiveCampus employee plays a meaningful role in shaping what comes next, and we’re growing the team in support of our ambitious plans-including a $100 million investment in AI product development. If you believe in the transformative power of education and want to join a fast-growing, mission-driven company, you’ll fit right in.
