Sr IT Data Analyst

Insight Global is seeking a Senior IT Data Analyst to support enterprise reporting, analytics, and data integration initiatives. This individual will serve as a key contributor in the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI reporting solutions, SQL Server databases, and SSIS-based ETL processes.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Microsoft BI professional capable of independently owning projects from requirements gathering through implementation and deployment. This role requires a balanced skillset across Power BI, SQL Server, SSIS, data warehousing, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will help source, transform, model, and visualize data that drives operational and strategic decision-making across the organization.

The hiring manager is specifically seeking a more senior-level resource who can operate with minimal oversight while delivering high-quality technical solutions. Technical capability is important, but attitude, initiative, coachability, and communication skills are equally critical for success.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Meet with business stakeholders to gather reporting and analytics requirements

Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, and visualizations

Build and optimize SQL Server databases, stored procedures, views, and complex T-SQL queries

Develop, maintain, and enhance SSIS packages and ETL workflows

Source, integrate, transform, and validate data from multiple systems and data sources

Support data warehouse and reporting environments through ongoing enhancements and maintenance

Deploy and support reporting solutions in Power BI Service

Troubleshoot performance issues related to reporting, ETL processes, and database operations

Support and maintain SQL Server Agent jobs while helping modernize and improve existing processes

Develop technical documentation, data definitions, and support materials

Participate in code reviews and follow established development best practices

Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver scalable reporting and analytics solutions

Provide regular project updates and communicate effectively with stakeholders

5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Reporting, Analytics, or Data Engineering

Strong Power BI development experience, including building dashboards and reports from scratch

Strong SQL Server and advanced T-SQL experience

Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SSIS packages

Experience designing and supporting ETL and data integration processes

Experience scheduling and maintaining jobs using SQL Server Agent

Experience writing and optimizing stored procedures, views, functions, and complex SQL queries

Experience integrating data from multiple source systems

Experience gathering requirements directly from business stakeholders

Ability to independently manage projects from requirements through deployment

Experience working with large datasets and complex data structures

Strong communication skills and stakeholder management abilities

Positive attitude, strong work ethic, initiative, and coachability Experience with DAX and Power Query

Experience with dimensional modeling, fact tables, dimension tables, and star schema design

Experience with Power BI Gateway

Experience deploying Power BI solutions to Power BI Service

Experience working within data warehouse environments

Experience supporting large-scale reporting and analytics platforms

Experience with Oracle in addition to SQL Server

Experience with cloud-based data and analytics technologies

Experience with additional ETL platforms such as Informatica, Talend, DataStage, or Azure Data Factory

Experience optimizing database performance and tuning stored procedures
