An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered, with directly related experience substituting for required education.

Preferred: CCNA certification or equivalent experience; additional Cisco, Microsoft, cloud, firewall, virtualization, storage, or cybersecurity certifications; experience with multiple enterprise firewall platforms; and local government IT experience.

  • Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, enterprise data storage, backups, recovery, and related applications.

  • Hyper-V and VMware virtualization technologies and environments.

  • Microsoft cloud technologies, including Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Intune, and Azure.

  • Cybersecurity, system hardening, vulnerability and patch management, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

  • Technical documentation, troubleshooting practices, project management, and current technology industry standards.

Skills in:

  • Independently configuring, administering, securing, monitoring, and troubleshooting Cisco networks, enterprise firewalls, servers, storage, virtual environments, and Microsoft cloud platforms.

  • Analyzing firewall rules, logs, packet captures, traffic flows, and system configurations to identify security risks and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Planning and implementing system upgrades, migrations, installations, and configuration changes.

  • Evaluating technical and business requirements and recommending secure, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.

  • Preparing technical documentation, diagrams, procedures, reports, and training materials.

  • Communicating technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Exercising independent judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving, discretion, and excellent customer service.
