Job description

You’ll help define the technical direction of the platform, lead important initiatives, and build the foundation for new developer experiences. You’ll work closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and other teams to solve complex problems and turn ambitious ideas into real products.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Making the developer platform easier, faster, and more powerful to build on
  • Designing and building platform features used by all developers on the platform
  • Leading major technical initiatives from early exploration through launch
  • Building the systems and tools that support future developer experiences
  • Working across backend, infrastructure, client, and full-stack components
  • Helping create a collaborative team with a strong sense of ownership, * Build and evolve the core platform services and capabilities that power the developer experience.
  • Create new capabilities that help external developers build great apps on Reddit
  • Contribute across the full development cycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch
  • Review code, design documents, product specifications, and user experiences
  • Help shape team strategy and the future direction of the platform
  • Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and contribute to a culture of thoughtful ownership

  • Contributions to open-source projects
  • Experience building Reddit apps with the Devvit platform

Requirements

  • 6+ years of industry experience working on platform functionality, developer tools, full-stack products, or app platforms
  • Experience leading large-scale technical projects from design through delivery
  • Strong backend or platform engineering experience, along with the ability to work across the stack when needed
  • Familiarity with technologies such as C++, Java, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or React
  • A habit of using AI tools in your daily work to improve productivity and software quality
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and raising the bar for software engineering practices
  • A passion for building high-quality software that people enjoy using
  • An entrepreneurial mindset: you’re self-directed, curious, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to turn ideas into action
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment and explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. The base salary range for this position is:

$217,000 - $303,900 USD
