Job description

We are seeking a Technical Specialist / Scientist 3 to support environmental permitting and wetlands protection initiatives focused on regulatory compliance, wetland delineation oversight, and coordination with environmental agencies and project stakeholders throughout California. This role will provide technical review, quality control, and guidance related to wetlands and waterway jurisdictional delineations, permitting strategies, and environmental compliance documentation., * Support the Wetlands Protection Program through technical review and oversight of consultant-prepared work products

  • Review wetlands and waterway jurisdictional delineation reports and permit application packages
  • Coordinate with consultants, environmental teams, construction contractors, and operational stakeholders
  • Assist with project tracking, data management, and administrative support activities
  • Support permitting strategies and provide recommendations based on project needs and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with federal and state resource agencies including USACE, SWRCB/RWQCB, and CDFW
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental and water quality regulations
  • Utilize ArcGIS, Google Earth, and geospatial systems to support project activities
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and regulatory submissions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with environmental planning and execution teams

Requirements

Do you have experience in Wetland delineation?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Minimum 3 years of general Water Quality compliance experience

  • Minimum 3 years of regulatory permitting and negotiation experience in California
  • Experience working with USACE, RWQCB, and CDFW regulatory agencies
  • Minimum 2 years of jurisdictional water and wetland delineation experience
  • Completion of a 40-hour Wetland Delineation course with applied field/project experience
  • Minimum 2 years of resource and project planning experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using ArcGIS and Google Earth
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and geospatial systems
  • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder coordination skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, * 5+ years of Water Quality compliance experience
  • 5+ years of California regulatory permitting and negotiation experience
  • 3+ years of wetlands delineation experience
  • Experience performing wetlands delineation in the Arid Southwest
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commitment to environmental compliance and safety practices
