AI Engineer

They are currently seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join their growing team, with this AI Engineer role offering the opportunity to design and deliver cutting-edge, production-ready solutions across AWS and Microsoft Azure. As an AI Engineer, you will play a key role in developing intelligent applications, AI agents and knowledge assistants while helping shape the organisation’s approach to AI adoption, engineering and responsible technology., Its dedicated AI Centre of Excellence is at the heart of this journey, responsible for identifying high-value opportunities, delivering production-grade AI and machine learning solutions, and supporting teams across the organisation in adopting emerging technologies., * Lead the design and development of production-ready AI agents, knowledge assistants and intelligent applications

• Translate complex business and banking challenges into practical, high-value AI opportunities
• Architect and implement AI solutions across AWS and Microsoft Azure, integrating with existing enterprise and banking platforms
• Develop scalable APIs, services and data/AI pipelines with a focus on reliability, performance and observability
• Take AI and ML initiatives from initial discovery and technical design through to production deployment
• Work closely with stakeholders to establish technical requirements, acceptance criteria and measurable business outcomes
• Monitor and optimise production AI solutions, including model evaluation, drift detection, latency, reliability and cost
• Establish robust CI/CD processes and infrastructure-as-code practices, including Terraform-based AWS infrastructure
• Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, governance, model-risk and responsible AI requirements
• Maintain clear technical documentation and communicate project progress, risks and outcomes to relevant stakeholders
• Collaborate with data scientists, architects, engineers, product teams and the wider AI community to deliver high-impact solutions
• Work with Group AI teams to adopt shared platforms, engineering patterns and reusable assets
• Support continuous improvement across the AI Centre of Excellence by developing standards, templates and engineering best practices
• Mentor and develop other engineers through code reviews, pair programming, technical coaching, design sessions and internal technology talks
• Help drive the organisation’s wider adoption of AI by sharing knowledge and demonstrating the value of emerging technologies

You will be an experienced technology professional with a strong software engineering background and demonstrable experience taking AI or machine learning solutions from development through to production., * Proven experience delivering production-grade AI/ML systems, including models, agents, pipelines or cloud infrastructure

• Strong software engineering skills with the ability to produce high-quality, maintainable and scalable code
• Experience making architectural decisions and developing reusable engineering patterns
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, ideally across both platforms
• Experience developing APIs, services and reliable data or AI pipelines
• Strong knowledge of LLMs, AI agents, knowledge assistants and modern AI application development
• Experience operating AI/ML solutions in production, including monitoring, evaluation, incident management and performance optimisation
• Understanding of CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code and secure software development practices
• Strong knowledge of data protection, privacy, security, model risk and responsible AI principles
• Experience with Terraform, particularly within AWS environments, would be advantageous
• Familiarity with containerisation and workflow orchestration
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• A collaborative approach and the confidence to influence engineering practices across multiple teams
• A genuine interest in mentoring colleagues and helping develop wider engineering capability
