Job description

Senior Software Engineer at Made Tech focuses on delivering custom software for the public sector, working across central and local government as well as health. The role involves outcome-based delivery, coaching teams, and ensuring technology solutions meet customer goals., * Write and deliver code with tests in a variety of programming languages (Java, Ruby, Python, ES6/React, C#/.NET Core).

  • Work on problems ranging from monoliths to microservices, contributing to and learning from diverse architectures.
  • Co-coach and mentor teammates, sharing knowledge and supporting their growth.
  • Implement and maintain CD pipelines, automate testing, and release frequently.
  • Document architecture and infrastructure as code using Terraform, OpenAPI, and IaC practices.
  • Use cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and leverage containerisation and serverless solutions.
  • Foster a DevOps culture by empowering teams to build, run, and manage their own services.

Requirements

  • Written code with tests
  • Delivery in an agile environment
  • Experience with multiple programming languages
  • Experience with at least one cloud platform
  • Experience with databases and APIs
  • Debugging experience across diverse systems
  • Evidence of self-development and a desire to learn
  • Drive to deliver outcomes for end users
  • Desire to mentor others, * Consultancy experience
  • Direct customer and user interaction
  • Working within multidisciplinary teams with product, design, and technology
  • Showcasing and presentation skills
  • Agile practices such as Scrum, XP, or Kanban
  • Pair programming ( 50% of time)
  • Test-driven development for code and infrastructure
  • Component-based design techniques (pattern libraries, CSS-in-JS, BEM, SUIT)
  • Debugging infrastructure
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • React ecosystem with test-driven approach
  • Infrastructure-as-code technologies (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Familiarity with architectural and design patterns
  • Use of architectural decision records, All successful candidates must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC), requiring five years of continuous UK residency and employment (or full-time education). If eligibility cannot be confirmed during the interview process, candidates will not be considered further.
