Data and Analysis Role task Associate Support

Iriss is a charity that works across Scotland and our principal funder is the Scottish Government.About the roleThis associate role is to provide high quality research and analysis support to our current Research and Analysis Lead and Iriss team. There are a number of specified key activities attached to the role.Key ActivitiesWe have summarised below the three key activities that will be attached to this role:Support with survey analysisWe would like the incoming Associate to be able to help us with wider research and analysis tasks, with a particular focus on quantitative survey research and statistics skills, and the ability to translate work and findings into digestible reports and presentations for a practitioner audience in social care and social work.Support in ongoing work on the ASP National Minimum datasetIriss has been involved with the Adult Support and Protection community in Scotland over the last six years to develop a new minimum dataset that ASP Committees can report against. That is now complete and the 32 Committees submit quarterly against this new dataset. The type of data collected include demographic and referral route information, as well a number of other agreed on key areas. The role for you here will be to collate, analyse and visually present this data.You can read about this work in our blog from earlier this year.Support in wider research report writing and presentationWe are a small team at Iriss and we would like the incoming Associate to support the team in their wider research report writing and presentation work. For example, this could involve creating a briefing paper to support a team member’s new project work, creating a presentation from a piece of project work, or working with a team member to best present the learning from a project.Who we are looking forThis role would suit someone with the following qualities and experience:Desk/literature research and analysis skills: We are looking for someone with experience of theming and coding large amounts of material as this role involves the secondary analysis of research and reportsClear and accessible writing style: Key delivery areas of the role are synthesising large amounts of narrative and written material from reports and succinctly summarising that materialQualitative data analysis, interpretation and presentation: Ability and familiarity with the production of graphical representations and data visualisations and an ability to carry out data quality control, validation and collation for large data sets is requiredSurvey software experience: Ability to create accessible surveys through survey software and analyse the responsesSpreadsheets: An advanced level of using MS Excel/Google sheets to analyse and present data is essentialGood communication and diplomacy: This role will involve working closely with colleagues from Iriss and the Scottish Government to consider, draft and communicate these findingsSpecific experience in the third (charity) sector and/or social care/work areas are desirable but not a requirement., None specified

Contract duration: 1 year. Contract budget: up to 86 days at £232/day. Working pattern: Approximately 30% of work to be done by end of March 2027. Remainder by end of contract. Please note: This is a contractor-only engagement. We cannot accept PAYE applications or offer employment contracts.
