TS/SCI Remote Sensing Software Engineer (Mid)

An employer in the Dayton, Ohio area is seeking a Remote Sensing Software Engineer (Mid level) with an active TS/SCI clearance for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This individual will be responsible for developing advanced remote sensing and OPIR processing capabilities that leverage imaging technologies, physics-based modeling, and AI/ML to transform raw sensor data into actionable mission insights. The ideal candidate will design and develop software solutions for radiometric modeling, sensor observation geometry, and advanced image processing, including motion compensation, multi-frame alignment, super-resolution, and imagery calibration. Responsibilities also include building machine learning capabilities for anomaly detection, object classification, and target identification, developing scientific Python-based analytics pipelines, supporting orbital modeling activities, and maintaining scalable, reproducible development environments. This individual will collaborate closely with astrodynamics subject matter experts, operators, and machine learning engineers to deliver integrated capabilities supporting mission-critical objectives. This position requires onsite support five days per week in the Dayton, Ohio area. Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance and be willing to undergo a polygraph.

Active TS/SCI clearance (Willingness to take a polygraph)

Bachelor’s degree

4+ years of experience

Experience in domain research, image processing, or data exploitation

Experience designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software applications

Strong Object-Oriented Programming experience (Python)

Experience with scientific Python packages (NumPy or SciPy or OpenCV or xarray)

Experience working with large sensor datasets (HDF5 or cloud object storage) Master’s Degree

Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow)

Experience with sensor phenomenology, radiometric calibration, or signature interpretation

Experience with super-resolution, deblurring, scene exploitation, or resolved feature extraction

Experience with uncertainty quantification, Kalman filtering, or tracking algorithms

Experience with AI-augmented development workflows or agentic tools

Experience with GitLab-based CI/CD workflows
