Job description
As a 2nd Line IT Support Consultant, you will provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to schools and Multi-Academy Trusts.
This is a customer-facing role requiring technical ability and strong people skills. You will work with CEOs, trust leadership teams, Headteachers, School Business Managers, teachers, support staff, pupils and students.
We are looking for someone who is approachable, personable and genuinely enjoys helping people. You must be able to explain technical matters clearly to users with different levels of technical knowledge. Building strong relationships with our customers is just as important as resolving their technical issues.
The role involves regular travel to schools, Multi-Academy Trusts and other educational organisations across North London, Greater London and surrounding areas, providing on-site technical support and assisting with project delivery., * Deliver professional and responsive 1st and 2nd line technical support.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network and connectivity issues.
- Support Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online.
- Support and assist with the administration of Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune and Mobile Device Management platforms.
- Support Google Workspace for Education environments at customer sites that use Google services.
- Support and manage Windows 11, macOS, iPadOS and ChromeOS devices.
- Support Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2025 environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file and print services.
- Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for schools and Multi-Academy Trusts.
- Support school infrastructure, including servers, wireless networks, switches and end-user devices.
- Assist with Microsoft 365 migrations, cloud projects and infrastructure upgrades.
- Deploy, configure and manage workstations, laptops, Macs, tablets, Chromebooks and other devices.
- Work confidently with CEOs, trust leadership teams, Headteachers, School Business Managers, teachers, support staff, pupils and students, communicating technical information clearly and providing a consistently high standard of customer service.
- Take ownership of technical issues and keep customers informed through to resolution.
- Identify areas requiring technical improvement and raise potential project requirements with the appropriate Classroom365 team member.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset information and service records.
- Work independently while contributing fully to the wider Classroom365 team., Employment is subject to satisfactory safeguarding and pre-employment checks, including:
- An Enhanced DBS check and any other checks required for the role.
- Verification of identity and the right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Satisfactory professional references.
- Confirmation of employment history and appropriate checks regarding any unexplained gaps.
- Verification of relevant qualifications where applicable.
A current Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service would be highly advantageous. However, applicants without an existing certificate may still apply, as the required check can be completed as part of the recruitment process.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience in a 1st or 2nd Line IT support role.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience supporting and administering Windows 11 devices.
- Experience diagnosing hardware, software and network-related faults.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- An approachable, personable and professional manner.
- Confidence working with senior leaders, teaching staff, support staff, pupils and students.
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly without unnecessary technical language.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and follow issues through to resolution.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly between customer sites across North London, Greater London and surrounding areas., * Previous IT support experience within schools or Multi-Academy Trusts.
- Microsoft Entra ID administration.
- Microsoft Intune and Mobile Device Management.
- Google Workspace for Education administration.
- Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online.
- Supporting and managing macOS and iPadOS devices.
- Apple School Manager and MDM platforms used to manage Mac and iPad devices.
- Management of Windows devices and Chromebooks.
- Windows Autopilot.
- Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2025.
- Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
- Hyper-V or VMware.
- Network infrastructure, switching and wireless networking.
- Microsoft Defender and cyber security technologies.
- Microsoft 365 migration experience.
- Workstation and device deployment.
- Experience supporting SEND environments.
- A full UK driving licence.
