Senior Java Full Stack Developer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Full Stack Developer to support a Cybersecurity organization undergoing a significant application modernization initiative. This senior-level role is approximately 70% backend and 30% frontend and is best suited for a self-driven developer who can take a problem statement and general direction, independently determine the path forward, and collaborate across teams to drive solutions through completion.

We are hiring inn our Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, FL, with 4 days onsite per week. 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET, with morning collaboration with an India-based team., * Full Stack Application Development: Design, develop, test, implement, and enhance enterprise applications across a multi-platform distributed environment, with approximately 70% of the work focused on backend development and 30% on frontend development.

• Java & REST Development: Develop and support backend solutions using Core Java and REST services, contributing to both new development and enhancements to existing systems.
• Database Development & Data Analysis: Work extensively with SQL and Oracle-backed database environments to analyze data, develop queries, create or modify database objects, troubleshoot issues, and support application enhancements.
• Application Modernization: Contribute to a large-scale modernization initiative focused on updating legacy technology and improving the long-term sustainability of existing applications.
• Cybersecurity & Vulnerability Remediation: Support technical initiatives within the Cybersecurity organization, including application improvements and vulnerability remediation efforts.
• Technical Problem Solving: Take ownership of technical problems from initial problem statement through resolution. Determine appropriate solutions, investigate issues independently, and establish relationships with other technical groups when cross-functional support is required.
• System Design & Analysis: Analyze business and technical requirements involving data, workflows, logical processes, application interfaces, and system dependencies, then translate those requirements into technical solutions.
• Production Enhancements: Support ongoing enhancements to existing applications and database environments, including troubleshooting and resolving issues within current systems.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with technical leads, developers, business partners, and globally distributed teams to coordinate development and resolve issues across interconnected systems.
• AI-Assisted Development: Utilize AI development tools and agents, including Eliza, to assist with coding and development activities. The team is actively building stronger AI prompting practices, so candidates should be willing to learn how to use these tools effectively while applying strong technical judgment.
• Continuous Learning: Take advantage of opportunities to learn technologies and areas outside of the immediate scope of assigned work.
• Technical Leadership: Apply senior-level technical knowledge to complex development challenges. While mentoring mid-level developers is not a core requirement, the ability to provide guidance and share technical expertise would be an additional asset.

• 10+ years of software development experience within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on Core Java development experience.
• Strong hands-on REST service development experience.
• Strong SQL skills, including data analysis and complex querying.
• Full Stack development experience across backend and frontend application layers.
• Experience working with Oracle-backed database environments.
• Experience contributing across technical design, development, coding, testing, implementation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Broad understanding of distributed applications and enterprise system architecture.
• Ability to independently investigate problems and drive solutions with limited direction.
• Strong conceptual understanding of development technologies and the ability to demonstrate technical depth beyond textbook-level knowledge.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Java 17+. Candidates with strong experience in other Java versions will also be considered.
• Experience with Angular, ideally Angular 18 through 20, although experience with other versions will be considered.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications or technology platforms.
• Experience supporting or enhancing existing production applications and database environments.
• Exposure to cybersecurity or vulnerability remediation initiatives.
• Experience creating or modifying database objects and tools.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, coding agents, or effective AI prompting techniques.
• Ability or interest in mentoring and providing technical guidance to other developers.
