Job description

The Cloud Azure Tools Specialist is a technical lead responsible for managing, configuring, and promoting best practices for the Data Insights and Innovation toolset. This role bridges the gap between technical infrastructure and business utility, ensuring that the organization’s cloud tools are effectively adopted, securely managed, and aligned with enterprise data strategies.

You will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a diverse stack of Azure-integrated tools, leading everything from vendor business reviews to the creation of internal training manuals and ā€œHow-Toā€ guides.

Core Responsibilities

  • Tool Administration & Configuration: Configure and maintain functional aspects of assigned tools; act as the primary SME for technical troubleshooting and service restoration.
  • Adoption & Training: Identify employee needs for tool utilization; create training materials (manuals, media, and plans) and lead delivery to ensure high adoption rates.
  • Vendor Management: Act as the technical point of contact for tool providers, leading business reviews and ensuring AF requirements are included in vendor product roadmaps.
  • Strategic Evaluation: Scout emerging technologies and evaluate the performance of current toolsets; provide recommendations to senior management for extensions or implementations.
  • Security & Compliance: Partner with InfoSec and Infrastructure to define user profiles and access management, ensuring all security models and policies are strictly applied.
  • Governance & Lifecycle: Document toolset deliverables from requirement gathering through implementation; participate in procurement (RFP/RFI) processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years in tools administration, specifically focused on functional support for data-related platforms.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Statistics, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).

Core Toolset Competencies:

  • Visualization/Reporting: Power BI, Sigma, WebFocus.
  • ETL/ELT Transformation: Matillion, Azure Data Factory (ADF), DBT.
  • Data Platforms: Databricks, Snowflake, Azure ADF.
  • Data Catalogs/Metadata: Microsoft Purview, Unity, Horizon, Alation.
  • AI/ML/Data Science: Dataiku, PyTorch, Azure ML, Databricks AI/ML, Snowflake CortexAI, TensorFlow, Hex.
  • API Management: Azure API Management, MuleSoft, Boomi.
