Job description
We are working in partnership with a local government organisation to recruit an experienced Data Migration Specialist / Application Support professional to support a major Adult Social Care transformation programme.
This is a high?profile, technically demanding role within the Council’s IT Services directorate, working as part of the Application Support function. You will lead the migration of large, complex datasets from legacy social care systems into a new case management solution-ensuring data quality, integrity, compliance, and successful delivery across all stages of the migration lifecycle.
The role requires a confident technical specialist who can operate across analysis, ETL development, data quality management, validation, and stakeholder engagement. You will also contribute to wider application support activities, following ITIL processes, supporting service excellence, and ensuring that customer care remains a core value within the team.

Key Responsibilities
Lead data migration activities across all phases of the project lifecycle.
Analyse legacy system data structures and define migration requirements.
Design and implement ETL processes for extraction, transformation, cleansing, and loading.
Develop and maintain detailed data mapping specifications between source and target systems.
Profile, cleanse, validate, and reconcile large datasets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Identify and resolve data quality issues, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
Produce migration scripts and automated transformation routines.
Execute test, rehearsal, and production migrations.
Support UAT and post?migration verification activities.
Document migration methodologies, processes, and technical specifications.
Provide progress reporting, risk management, and issue resolution throughout the programme.
Collaborate with Business Analysts, suppliers, Social Care teams, Project Managers, and technical colleagues.
Follow ITIL?aligned service management processes and ensure accurate use of service management tools.
Contribute to continuous improvement within the Application Support team.
Manage access to highly confidential and sensitive information in line with GDPR, DPA, FOI and Council policies.
Provide specialist guidance to colleagues and support wider application maintenance, configuration, and development where required.
Deputise for senior members of the Application Support team when needed., Please do try to resist contacting us with requests for progress updates.
Requirements
Proven experience delivering large?scale data migration projects.
Strong knowledge of ETL methodologies and best practice.
Experience working with complex relational databases and large data volumes.
Advanced SQL skills for extraction, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
Experience performing data profiling, cleansing, and quality improvement activities.
Strong analytical and structured problem?solving skills.
Ability to interpret complex business rules and convert them into migration requirements.
Experience producing data mapping and migration documentation.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with technical and non?technical stakeholders.
Experience working within structured project delivery environments.
Ability to deliver high?quality customer service and collaborate effectively with colleagues and end users.
Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience using IT service management tools.
At least one year’s experience in an ICT business systems environment (or equivalent experience).
Desirable Experience
Local Government or NHS data migration experience.
Adult Social Care system migration experience.

Knowledge of social care data standards, statutory reporting, and regulatory requirements.
