Job description
Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus, working across TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL and AWS serverless technologies. You’ll help build and evolve the Onboarding platform, delivering scalable APIs, cloud-native services and customer journeys that support account onboarding experiences., You’ll work primarily on AWS serverless backend services, APIs and platform capabilities, whilst also contributing to frontend applications when required. This is an opportunity to work with modern cloud-native technologies, GraphQL-based architectures, event-driven systems and customer-facing products that play a key role in our digital experience.
We’re looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems, taking ownership of solutions and contributing to the continuous improvement of both technology and engineering practices.
You’ll help build customer journeys that enable clients to complete account opening and transfer journeys.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, develop and maintain backend services
- Build scalable APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
- Develop AWS serverless applications using modern engineering practices.
- Contribute to platform scalability, resilience, observability and performance.
- Work across the full stack where required
- Take ownership of features and issues from design through to production.
- Drive engineering improvements, automation and operational excellence.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical design sessions.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Platform and Engineering teams to deliver customer value.
- Supported developers in upskilling to facilitate the transition from on-premises services to cloud-based solutions

Cloud & Infrastructure
- AWS
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, SST or similar)

- Familiarity with core AWS services including IAM, Secrets Manager and Parameter Store
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices
Full Stack Experience
- Experience working across frontend and backend technologies
- React and TypeScript exposure
- Building customer-facing web applications, We see GraphQL as an increasingly important part of our future architecture and would particularly welcome candidates with experience in:
- Designing and implementing GraphQL APIs
- GraphQL schema design
- GraphQL federation patterns
- Transitioning from REST-based architectures to GraphQL
- Consuming GraphQL services within distributed systems
Search & Content Platforms
- Typesense
- Elasticsearch
- Contentful or other Headless CMS platforms
Modern Engineering Tooling
- LaunchDarkly or feature flagging platforms
- OAuth and authentication flows
- Cross-account AWS patterns
- Analytics integration
- Experience with observability tooling such as Grafana
Frontend Technologies
- TanStack Query
- Zustand
- Vite
- Micro-frontend architectures (e.g. Module Federation)
- Tailwind CSS
Nice to Have
- Financial Services experience
You’ll be comfortable taking ownership of features from design through to production, collaborating across engineering disciplines, and proactively identifying opportunities to improve both the platform and the way we work.
