Job description
The Applications Engineer serves as a technical liaison between engineering, sales, manufacturing, and external customers. This role supports semi-custom HVAC applications by helping configure equipment solutions, reviewing special project requirements, troubleshooting technical challenges, and supporting the selection and adaptation of HVAC products to meet customer needs.
This is not purely a design engineering role. Instead, it’s a highly collaborative, customer-facing technical position focused on applications, equipment configuration, problem-solving, and supporting custom and semi-custom HVAC solutions.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and capable of balancing technical knowledge with strong communication and customer support skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesApplications & Technical Support
- Support the configuration and application of semi-custom HVAC equipment based on project and customer requirements
- Serve as a technical bridge between sales, engineering, manufacturing, and external customers
- Assist with special configurations, equipment selections, and technical adaptations for custom project needs
- Troubleshoot product and application-related issues while supporting timely resolution
- Interpret technical requirements and help determine practical, cost-effective solutions
Customer & Project Support
- Communicate directly with contractors, consulting engineers, sales representatives, and internal teams regarding technical questions and project requirements
- Support special projects requiring customized equipment solutions and engineering coordination
- Help manage technical presales support by identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate HVAC solutions
- Balance customer requests with operational feasibility and company objectives
Engineering & Product Coordination
- Assist with drawings, configurations, and component selections for specialty applications
- Support engineering and manufacturing teams by ensuring project information is accurate and complete
- Develop a strong understanding of HVAC systems, product functionality, components, and operational limitations
- Participate in improving processes, streamlining workflows, and supporting team efficiency initiatives
Product & Technical Knowledge
- Maintain knowledge of HVAC products, components, and systems including coils, fans, heat exchangers, and related mechanical systems
- Develop an understanding of cooling/heating capacities, load concepts, airflow, and basic psychrometrics
- Stay current on industry technologies and product innovations
Requirements
Do you have experience in Teamwork?, * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field preferred
- Equivalent HVAC industry experience may be considered
- 5-10 years of experience in HVAC manufacturing, applications engineering, technical support, mechanical systems, or related industries, * Basic understanding of commercial HVAC systems and mechanical components
- Exposure to semi-custom HVAC equipment or manufacturing environments is highly preferred
- Ability to understand how HVAC units are configured, built, and selected for applications
- Familiarity with engineering processes, component selection, and technical documentation
- Basic electrical and mechanical aptitude preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or HVAC selection/configuration software is a plus

- HVAC design: 3 years (Preferred)
