Are you passionate about technology and eager to keep a modern educational environment running at peak digital performance? A thriving, forward-thinking secondary academy in Shaftesbury is looking for a skilled, proactive IT Technician to join their busy technical support team on a permanent, full-time basis, starting as soon as possible.
In this hands-on and varied role, you will be the go-to technical expert for staff and students alike, ensuring that our cutting-edge classroom hardware, networks, and software systems operate seamlessly every day., Working under the direction of the Network Manager, the IT Technician will provide first- and second-line technical support across the academy. You will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, maintain device inventories, set up audio-visual equipment, and help drive digital learning initiatives forward in a fast-paced school setting., * Helpdesk & Incident Support: Diagnose and resolve 1st and 2nd-line hardware, software, network, and printer faults logged via the internal helpdesk system.
- Hardware & Device Maintenance: Image, configure, and repair desktop PCs, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, and interactive classroom touchscreens.
- Network & Account Administration: Manage Active Directory / Google Workspace user accounts, password resets, email distribution lists, and basic network permissions.
- AV & Classroom Tech Setup: Support teachers with audio-visual equipment, projectors, video conferencing tools, and presentation setups for daily lessons and school events.
- Software Deployment: Install, update, and manage educational software packages and licenses across school workstations using deployment tools.
- Asset Management & Documentation: Keep the hardware asset register up to date, manage IT consumable stock, and maintain clear internal technical documentation.
Requirements
- Technical Background: Proven experience working in a dedicated IT support role, helpdesk environment, or school technical team.
- Core IT Knowledge: Solid troubleshooting skills across Windows OS, macOS, ChromeOS, Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace, and basic TCP/IP networking concepts.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A logical, methodical approach to diagnosing technical issues with a strong customer-service orientation.
- Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, patient, and able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical teachers and students.
- Compliance Requirement: An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a readiness to complete a clearance process prior to starting).
