Team Lead Backend Golang / Java (all genders) | simplesurance

• Lead, mentor, and support a team of Backend Engineers, helping them grow professionally while fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and engineering excellence.
• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs, ensuring high performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Take ownership of technical initiatives from end to end, from requirements and architecture design through implementation, deployment, and production support.
• Work closely with Product Managers, Architects, DevOps Engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust solutions that create real business value.
• Drive technical excellence and continuous improvement through architectural decisions, code quality, CI/CD practices, automation, observability, and modern engineering approaches, including AI-assisted development.

• Strong backend engineering experience, with expertise in designing, building, and operating scalable production systems using technologies such as Golang and/or Java.
• Deep understanding of modern software architectures, including distributed systems, microservices, APIs, cloud-native applications, and event-driven systems.
• Leadership experience, either as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or senior technical mentor, with a track record of developing engineers and driving technical excellence.
• Hands-on experience with modern engineering practices and tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability platforms, databases, and messaging systems such as Kafka.
• Experience with AI-assisted development, developer productivity initiatives, and modern software development approaches such as Specification-Driven Development (SDD).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to navigate technical complexity, influence stakeholders, and balance delivery, quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
