& their impActs IN The earth sYstem), we are working to better understand the interactions between aerosols and clouds and their impact on the climate. This would help reduce uncertainties in climate forecasts and better assess the effects of aerosols on atmospheric systems.
The postdoctoral researcher’s mission will be to develop and improve the WRF-Chem model of aerosol-cloud interactions in the Arctic region. The goal will be to analyze their impact on the Arctic climate, thereby reducing uncertainties in climate projections.
- Development and improvement of WRF-Chem simulations for modeling aerosols and clouds in the Arctic region.
- Analysis of the interactions between aerosols, clouds, and climate using data from the simulations.
- Validation of the models using observational data, satellite data, and field campaign data.
- Investigation of the effects of aerosols on cloud microphysics and climate feedbacks.
- Publication of research results in scientific journals and presentations at conferences.
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary research teams as part of the CERTAINTY project.
- Optimization and documentation of modeling configurations for future climate studies.

Years of Research Experience 1 - 4, Atmospheric modeling: Understanding of the principles of atmospheric modeling, particularly using WRF-Chem. Knowledge of the physical and chemical processes simulated in the model, including cloud microphysics and interactions with aerosols.
- Visualization and post-processing tools: Proficiency in visualization tools (e.g., Python) and data post-processing tools to analyze simulation results and generate graphs, maps, and diagnostics useful for scientific interpretation.
- Unix/Linux: Expertise in Unix/Linux environments, including file system management, shell scripting (Bash), and the optimization of simulations on supercomputer architectures. Knowledge of job scheduling tools such as Slurm or PBS for submitting and monitoring large-scale simulations.
- High-Performance Computing (HPC): Proficiency in high-performance computing to run atmospheric models on clusters and supercomputers. Experience with code parallelization, MPI (Message Passing Interface), and performance optimization for large-scale simulations using models such as WRF-Chem.
- Applied Mathematics and Statistics: Knowledge of statistical methods and algorithms for data analysis, including model fitting, regression, and sensitivity analysis.

- Scientific Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex research projects. Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, organize one’s work, and meet scientific publication deadlines.
- Programming and Workflow Automation: Proficiency in writing Python and Shell scripts to automate modeling and analysis processes. Ability to efficiently manage large amounts of data and configure robust analysis pipelines.
- Dissemination of Results: Experience in writing scientific publications, presenting results at conferences, and engaging in scientific discussions to promote discoveries and contribute to advances in the field.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written): Proficiency in English to write scientific publications, present results at international conferences, and collaborate effectively with international research teams.
