Network Field Engineer {175457} in Detroit

We are seeking a hands-on Network Field Engineer to support enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure across multiple locations in the Detroit area. This position is responsible for day-to-day network operations, installation and configuration of Cisco equipment, troubleshooting network and application performance issues, break/fix support, and implementation of network upgrades and improvements., * Monitor and support day-to-day operations of enterprise data networks.

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network devices.
• Support LAN/WAN connectivity and network infrastructure across multiple locations.
• Configure switches, perform port activations, and complete firmware updates.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity, application performance, routing, and infrastructure issues.
• Support routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
• Diagnose issues involving TCP/IP, firewalls, routers, PCs, printers, and other connected devices.
• Plan and implement Cisco-based network solutions of intermediate to advanced complexity.
• Recommend and assist with network upgrades, improvements, and new functionality.
• Work with infrastructure teams and end users to identify and resolve performance issues.
• Monitor network installation, maintenance, and monitoring systems.
• Maintain current knowledge of networking and security best practices.
• Create and maintain network diagrams and technical documentation using Visio and related tools.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Provide informal technical guidance and mentoring to team members.
• Travel between supported locations as required.

This is a field-based position requiring reliable transportation and regular travel between supported sites. The ideal candidate will have strong practical Cisco networking experience and be comfortable independently troubleshooting complex network issues in an enterprise environment., * 2-4+ years of hands-on network troubleshooting experience in an enterprise environment.

• Hands-on experience installing and configuring Cisco networking equipment.
• Strong experience with LAN/WAN networking.
• Experience configuring switches, activating ports, and performing firmware updates.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP and routing protocols, including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
• Experience troubleshooting firewalls, routers, network connectivity, PCs, printers, and related infrastructure.
• Ability to independently analyze network issues and implement effective solutions.
• Ability to plan and implement Cisco-based network solutions without extensive supervision.
• Experience creating technical documentation and network diagrams using Visio or similar tools.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively with infrastructure teams, technical staff, and end users.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between Detroit-area sites as needed.

Additional / Experience

• CCNA certification . Candidates without a CCNA should be actively working toward certification.
• Associate degree or technical/vocational training ; bachelor’s degree is a plus.
• Avaya experience is a plus.
• ServiceNow experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements is .
• Experience working within a large enterprise or healthcare environment is beneficial.
