Full-Time MSP Support Engineer (Level 2)

Asteroid IT is a growing managed service provider supporting CPA firms, healthcare practices, and compliance-driven businesses across the Phoenix metro. We are hiring a full-time IT Engineer who is hungry to learn, take on increasing responsibility, and grow with us.

What You’ll Do

• Handle Level 1 and Level 2 support tickets across multiple client environments
• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot on-premises Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file and print services
• Support and maintain virtualization environments, including Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines
• Perform server patching, backups, and disaster recovery tasks
• Troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, and workstation issues
• Perform user onboarding and offboarding across on-prem and cloud environments
• Support firewalls and endpoint security platforms (Sophos, Fortinet, ThreatLocker, and similar)
• Assist with network troubleshooting involving managed switches, VLANs, and VPNs
• Install and maintain endpoint security and monitoring agents
• Assist with device deployments, server migrations, and project work
• Maintain clear, accurate ticket notes and documentation in ConnectWise Manage and IT Glue
• Escalate appropriately with clear documentation when needed
• Grow into higher-level technical work, projects, and eventually leadership as the company expands

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Windows?, * Genuine multi-client MSP experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in an MSP environment supporting multiple clients

• Real on-prem server experience: Demonstrated, hands-on experience administering on-premises Windows Server (not just workstation or help desk support). This is essential to the role.
• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print server administration
• Hands-on experience with server virtualization (Hyper-V preferred)
• Comfortable handling tickets independently without micromanagement
• Strong understanding of ticketing systems, SLAs, and MSP workflows
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Windows environments
• Familiarity with firewalls and endpoint protection (Sophos, Fortinet, or similar)
• Experience with managed switches and networking hardware
• Solid grasp of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, subnetting)
• Professional communication skills with end users
• Organized, reliable, and documentation-focused
• A genuine drive to learn, grow, and take on more responsibility over time
• Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated, quiet home workspace, * U.S. citizenship (required, our clients hold Department of Defense contracts that require U.S. citizenship for all personnel accessing their environments or facilities)
• Located in the Phoenix metro area
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required for onsite client visits)
• Willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with applicable law
• Willing to take a pre-employment drug test, in accordance with applicable law

Bonus Skills (Desired but Not Required)

Experience in any of the following is a plus and will stand out, but is not required to apply:

• Working in or supporting compliance-driven environments such as HIPAA, NIST 800-171, IRS Publication 4557 / Safeguards Rule, or FTC Safeguards Rule
• Familiarity with CPA, healthcare, legal, or other regulated industry clients
• Experience with CMMC, ThreatLocker, Wazuh, Duo, or Huntress
• Relevant certifications (CompTIA Security+, Network+, Server+, Microsoft certifications, etc.)
• Experience with documentation frameworks, risk assessments, or security audits
• Exposure to SOC 2 or CIS Controls frameworks
