Data Engineer

Blu Omega is seeking a Data Engineer to support federal data modernization efforts. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining cloud-based data pipelines, ETL workflows, and database solutions within a mission-focused environment., * Develop, test, and maintain Python- and SQL-based data pipelines and ETL workflows.

• Support data integration and processing using AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and related services.
• Develop and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models.
• Support database normalization, query optimization, and data integrity controls.
• Translate business and technical requirements into well-documented technical solutions.
• Investigate and resolve data quality, integration, and performance issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution documentation, interface specifications, data-flow diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, manage Jira tasks, and collaborate with team members through code reviews and testing.
• Apply established development, security, testing, and documentation standards.
• Support delivery as an individual contributor without direct team management or technical leadership responsibilities.

• Proficiency developing data pipelines and ETL workflows using Python and SQL.
• Experience with database design, schema development, data modeling, normalization, and query optimization.
• Ability to translate business and technical requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and solution-design skills.
• Experience working within Agile or Scrum environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to create clear technical documentation and present technical information effectively.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to work as a W-2 employee., * Intermediate experience gathering requirements in an Agile environment.
• Experience supporting the Department of Defense.
• Experience in secure, compliance-driven, government, or mission-focused environments.
• Familiarity with AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and related cloud services.
• Experience with Jira, Git, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Exposure to data-quality monitoring, operational support, or cloud-native application development.
• AWS certification or relevant cloud training.

Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
