Job description

GovCIO LLC seeks a Sr. Systems Engineer to design, secure, and optimize hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructures for federal agencies. You’ll lead system architecture, automation, and troubleshooting across Windows/Linux, virtualization, storage, and networking. Partner with cybersecurity and software teams to meet federal security, performance, and availability requirements. This mission-driven, collaborative role offers hybrid remote flexibility, modern tech, mentorship opportunities, and impact on high-visibility government IT modernization and digital transformation programs., * Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable systems in hybrid cloud and on-prem environments for federal clients

  • Configure and optimize Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, storage, and networking to meet performance and availability SLAs
  • Automate deployments, patching, monitoring, and configuration management using modern Dev
  • Ops and scripting tools
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term preventive solutions
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, software, and data teams to ensure compliance with federal security and governance standards
  • Document architectures, runbooks, and configurations; provide knowledge transfer and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Support migration of legacy systems to modern architectures, including cloud and containerized workloads
  • Participate in on-call rotations and change management processes to support 24x7 mission-critical environments
