Job description

Join the Mercury Platform Team and help build and run the group-wide cloud-native platform powering delivery teams across the organization. Our mission: a best-in-class developer experience, zero-friction deployments, and secure multi-cluster Kubernetes operations at scale. Why this role matters:

High Impact: Your work directly enables delivery teams across the bank to ship services faster, more securely, and more reliably - from namespace provisioning to production promotion.
Modern Technology: Cloud-native, GitOps-driven, AI-enabled, and continuously evolving - this role will sharpen your skills in distributed infrastructure, automation, and platform engineering.
Close to Users: You’ll work directly with development teams to understand their needs and build the right platform capabilities - from self-service APIs to progressive delivery pipelines.

What you can expect:

Build and operate a modern multi-cluster and multi-cloud Kubernetes platform (OKD/OpenShift on AWS, Azure, EU Cloud)
Design and automate GitOps deployment pipelines with ArgoCD and Kargo
Extend platform capabilities with Crossplane compositions and custom APIs
Deep-dive into progressive delivery, service mesh (Istio), and policy enforcement (Kyverno)
Use AI assistants and agents (GitHub CoPilot, Claude Code etc.) to accelerate engineering workflows
Provide platform expertise and troubleshooting support to delivery teams
Perform SRE work to keep multi-cluster environments stable, secure, and observable

Requirements

Solid understanding of Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure patterns E.g. experience with OKD/OpenShift, or similar self-operated K8s distros - operator development is a plus
Experience with GitOps tools (ArgoCD, FluxCD, or similar)
Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (Crossplane, Terraform, or similar)
Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and alerting (Grafana, Prometheus, or similar)
Coding skills in at least one of: Go, Python, or Java
Strong security mindset - identity management, encryption, and policy enforcement matter to you
Openness to explore the latest AI tech trends with us

Nice to have:

Experience operating platforms for regulated or high-availability environments
Background in building internal developer platforms or self-service tooling
Agile/DevOps mindset and experience in cross-functional teams

Agile Engineering Days

At this year’s Agile Engineering Days, Raiffeisen Bank International AG’s internal engineering conference, two guest speakers inspired the bank’s engineering community with hot topics from the #DevOps universe. Jessica Joy Kerr from Honeycomb.io spoke about how to manage complex systems in production while Moira Cheng from the Vodafone Group shared the challenges of the engineering #transformation at Vodafone Group with the audience. Meet Elisabeth Geyer-Schall, Division Lead Group IT Delivery at RBI AG, who has successfully created agility in IT and modernized cooperation with specialist departments in RBI. As Division Lead Group IT Delivery at RBI AG, Elisabeth Geyer-Schall has transformed her company's IT operations by encouraging agile teams to work across departments in the interests of the customer, rather than being constrained by organizational silos. Her efforts have not only created agility in IT, but have also modernized cooperation with specialist departments. Loyalty Evolution Hackathon

Elevator Lab and Blockchain Hub, together with colleagues from Customer Engagement Platforms & Products team in Raiffeisen Bank International AG, organized a Loyalty Hackathon from 24th until 26th of March.
