Job description

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll lead and mentor Software and QA Engineers while remaining heavily involved in the design and development of modern applications. Who you’ll be working with

You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary Engineering team made up of Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Product Owners and Business Analysts.

The team works across a large portfolio of systems, including internal platforms and client-facing web applications, with a strong focus on modern cloud technology, automation and emerging AI capabilities. What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and mentor Software and QA Engineers across multiple projects
  • Stay hands-on with software design, development and technical delivery
  • Build modern web applications using C#, ASP.NET Core and TypeScript/React
  • Design and develop REST APIs, microservices and event-driven solutions
  • Build cloud-first applications on Azure, using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD
  • Deploy containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes/AKS
  • Work with Azure SQL, Entity Framework and NoSQL databases
  • Integrate applications using cloud messaging platforms such as Azure Service Bus or Kafka
  • Apply clean architecture, design patterns and secure coding practices
  • Contribute to the adoption of generative AI and AI-driven development
  • Work closely with Product Owners and wider engineering teams in an Agile environment
  • Promote engineering best practices, reusable components and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience designing and developing software
  • Significant hands-on experience with C# or Java
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns and clean code
  • Experience building REST APIs and microservices
  • Experience developing user-facing web applications
  • Strong cloud experience, ideally Azure
  • Experience with CI/CD, Git and modern DevOps practices
  • Experience working with relational databases and data modelling
  • Understanding of application security, including SAST, DAST and penetration testing
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring or technically guiding other engineers
  • A strong understanding of Agile/DevSecOps ways of working
