IT Specialist (Network Services & Infrastructure)

Drive the design, performance, and cyber resiliency of enterprise-grade Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) systems that power critical defense software development. In this senior role, you will lead the architecture, capacity modeling, and modern optimization of complex network environments, while delivering central production and laboratory support to the 577th Software Engineering Squadron (577 SWES).

What you will accomplish:

• High-Availability Mission Infrastructure: Design and maintain the mission-critical network backbone ensuring continuous uptime and zero work stoppages for elite software engineering teams.

• Next-Gen Network Engineering: Lead advanced capacity modeling, evaluate emerging infrastructure technologies, and define long-range automation objectives for senior leadership.

• Central Production Hub: Directly empower software development by providing laboratory infrastructure, material coordination, project planning, and safe operating environments across the 577 SWES.

Key Responsibilities:

• Overarching Network Administration: Architect, administer, and optimize complex LAN/WAN to ensure peak operational performance and robust security.

• Advanced Capacity & Feasibility Analysis: Direct feasibility studies, conduct predictive capacity modeling, and engineer scalable network solutions to meet expanding mission needs.

• Hardware/Software Integration: Lead the configuration, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of highly integrated network hardware, routing protocols, and enterprise software suites.

• 577 SWES Production & Lab Support: Deliver centralized operational support, including software laboratory management, project planning, material support, and safety compliance across production lines.

If you are:

• A seasoned enterprise network engineer with a proven track record of designing, deploying, and maintaining high-availability LAN/WAN environments.

• A strategic infrastructure planner experienced in network capacity modeling, performance optimization, and implementing long-range automation goals.

• A proactive technical problem solver skilled at collaborating with multi-agency stakeholders, leading lab integrations, and preventing critical network bottlenecks.

• Obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance

• Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

• May require work to be performed during hours outside the normal duty schedule

• Designated Drug Testing Position

• Obtain and maintain a Cyberspace qualification

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements.

2. Knowledge of the network architecture, interrelationships, operating modes, configuration, topology, and protocols typically found at base level.

3. Knowledge of network operating and maintenance concepts and methods to troubleshoot network problems.

4. Knowledge of complex configuration management techniques, and requirements appropriate to managing base level network systems.

5. Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of network problems; and to analyze component interrelationships and evaluate network systems and computer applications from an operational perspective.

6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.
