Head of Computing & IT

We are seeking a Head of Computing & IT to lead Computing across the school and provide day-to-day IT support for staff and pupils.

You will teach Computing from Years 1 to 8, helping pupils develop the knowledge and skills they need to use technology confidently, creatively, and safely. Alongside teaching, you will act as the school’s primary IT contact, supporting users, maintaining systems and devices, and working with external providers to ensure technology supports learning effectively.

This is a varied role that combines teaching, subject leadership, and practical IT management. Working closely with the Head, Bursar, colleagues across the school, and external partners, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing Pennthorpe’s technology provision., * Lead the development of Computing across Years 1 to 8

• Teach Computing lessons and support technology-related enrichment opportunities
• Monitor the quality of teaching, learning, and outcomes within the subject
• Provide effective support for hardware, software, and user issues
• Manage user accounts, permissions, devices, and aspects of the school’s MIS
• Support audio-visual requirements for assemblies, productions, and other school events
• Promote online safety and responsible use of technology
• Work with the Head of Finance & Operations and external IT providers to maintain secure and reliable systems

You will be a strong teacher with the confidence and technical ability to support a wide range of educational and IT needs., * A degree or equivalent qualification; QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification is desirable but not essential

• Experience teaching Computing or a related subject, with secure subject knowledge

• A good understanding of educational technology and experience supporting technology in a professional environment
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware, software, and user support
• Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with pupils, colleagues, and external providers
