Principal Software Engineer - OpsTech (Java) - Hedge Fund

We are seeking a motivated professional to join the Operations Technology team to build and support the firm’s Profit & Loss (PnL) platform and Price Master systems.

This role will help maintain data integrity, implement system improvements and support stakeholders across trading, risk, finance and operations. The successful candidate will bring strong Java engineering experience, experience working with financial systems, excellent analytical skills and a desire to contribute within a dynamic investment management environment. Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of Profit & Loss (PnL) and Price Master platforms, ensuring data accuracy, reliability and ongoing system enhancement.
• Design, develop and maintain scalable Java applications supporting business-critical operational workflows.
• Identify and implement system improvements, automation opportunities and integrations with upstream and downstream systems.
• Collaborate closely with trading, risk, finance and operations teams to support accurate capture of positions, valuations and pricing data.
• Perform analysis and provide insights from PnL and pricing data to support reporting and business decision-making.
• Support audit, regulatory and internal control functions through documentation, governance and process controls.
• Work alongside vendors and internal technology teams to coordinate system upgrades, integrations and user support.
• Investigate and resolve production issues, assist with testing and deployment activities, and contribute new functionality to existing platforms.
• Participate in technology projects and support delivery against agreed timelines.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience within financial services, ideally in an investment management, hedge fund or trading environment.
• Strong commercial Java development experience, including designing, building and supporting enterprise-grade applications.
• Experience working with Profit & Loss (PnL) platforms and/or Price Master systems.
• Strong understanding of SQL, database technologies and systems integration.
• Experience building distributed systems, APIs and data processing applications.
• Understanding of middle-office and back-office workflows, including trade capture, settlement, reconciliation and risk management processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
