Salesforce Developer

• 6+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience in complex, multi-object, multi-integration environments \n

• Strong proficiency in Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL, and Salesforce APIs, with demonstrated experience designing and maintaining integrations \n

• Direct, hands-on production experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud (NPC), including fundraising and at least one other module (program, case, pipelines, or grantmaking) \n

• Experience with Nonprofit Cloud configuration and data models \n

• Experience leading, or playing a primary technical role in, a migration or major redesign involving NPSP and/or Nonprofit Cloud data models \n

• Deep understanding of Salesforce security, data modeling, and automation tools (Flows, validation rules, approval processes, etc.) \n

• Experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements, present options, and deliver user-centric solutions \n

• Demonstrated ownership of the full development lifecycle: discovery, design, build, testing, deployment, documentation, and support \n

• Salesforce Platform Developer I certification, plus additional advanced Salesforce certifications \n

• Experience implementing AI-powered features within Salesforce (e.g., Einstein AI, predictive analytics, automated insights) \n, * Strong proficiency in Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL, and Salesforce APIs, * Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud Consultant and/or Nonprofit Success Pack Consultant certifications, or equivalent expertise \n

• Experience in philanthropic, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations, particularly with grants management, donor management, or impact/outcomes reporting \n

• Experience with Agile or other iterative delivery methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), including backlog management and sprint-based work \n

• Background supporting reporting and analytics solutions (Salesforce reports and dashboards and/or external BI tools) \n

• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tooling for Salesforce (Git-based workflows, deployment automation) \n

• Experience developing and bringing a Salesforce application to market through the AppExchange

• Build and Architect Solutions \n

• Design and develop Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, and other declarative tools \n

• Serve as technical architect for data models, automation, and custom objects supporting grants management, donor engagement, program/case management, pipelines, and impact tracking in Nonprofit Cloud \n

• Make intentional configure-vs-code decisions that prioritize maintainability, performance, and alignment with NPC’s standard data model \n

• Define and manage release cycles, including sandbox strategy, branching, testing protocols, and production deployments \n

• Support and Enhance the Nonprofit Cloud Instance \n

• Act as technical lead for the NPC environment, optimizing and extending fundraising, program, pipelines, and case management modules \n

• Design enhancements to NPC’s party model and data architecture to accommodate complex grantmaking workflows, multi-year grants, and relationship tracking \n

• Leverage NPC’s standard capabilities where possible and address gaps through custom development where necessary \n

• Support ongoing data quality, model refinement, and feature adoption across departments \n

• Connect Systems and Protect Data \n

• Design, implement, and support integrations between Salesforce and finance/ERP platforms, document management systems, grant portals, and analytics/BI tools \n

• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance through role-based access, sharing models, field-level security, and audit controls \n

• Lead data quality initiatives, including deduplication, standardization, reference data management, and monitoring \n

• Analyze, Design, and Partner Across the Organization \n

• Collaborate with program staff, grants managers, philanthropy teams, and finance to understand the workflows and outcomes they need \n

• Establish integrations between the primary Salesforce org and Salesforce instances used by affiliated entities \n

• Elicit and document business requirements and user stories, then translate them into technical designs and implementation plans \n

• Prototype and iterate on solutions that streamline processes rather than add complexity \n

• Create clear documentation of architecture, data models, integrations, and operational procedures for technical and non-technical audiences \n

• Establish Standards and Governance \n

• Implement Salesforce and NPC best practices for security, change management, and governance appropriate for a mid-sized nonprofit \n

• Help define and enforce coding standards, branching strategies, test coverage, and quality gates \n

• Ensure compliance with data privacy requirements and internal controls related to donor, grantee, and program data \n

• Proactively address risks related to scalability, performance, technical debt, and vendor dependencies \n

• Mentor and Lead \n

• Partner closely with the Salesforce Administrator, clarifying ownership boundaries and ensuring a cohesive operating model \n

• Serve as technical mentor to the Salesforce Administrator and internal user base \n

• Lead interactions with external consultants, including code reviews and design guidance \n

• Contribute to the Salesforce platform roadmap and long-term technical strategy alongside leadership \n
