Network Engineer

Looking for a networking contract where you’ll spend more time on the technology and less time in meetings? We’re supporting a large organisation with a busy and highly visible network estate, and they’re looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join the team on an initial 6-month contract. This is a practical engineering role in a fast-moving environment where you’ll be directly involved in maintaining, troubleshooting and improving core network services. The team is responsible for keeping critical infrastructure running smoothly across multiple sites, supporting everything from wired and wireless networking through to firewall management, access control and network security. You’ll be joining an established team that values technical expertise and collaboration, with plenty of opportunity to get involved in real engineering work rather than simply escalating issues elsewhere. The role offers a hybrid working model, with 2-3 days per week onsite in Oxfordshire, providing the ideal blend of flexibility and hands-on engagement with the wider infrastructure team.

Your new role

As a Network Engineer, you’ll be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of a large enterprise networking environment.You’ll work across a broad range of technologies, helping to maintain network performance, investigate faults, implement changes and support ongoing improvement projects. This is very much a hands-on position where you’ll be actively involved in troubleshooting routing and switching issues, supporting wireless infrastructure, managing firewall changes, maintaining IP address management systems and ensuring network services remain available and secure.You’ll have the opportunity to work across:

You’ll have previous experience supporting enterprise network environments and be comfortable working across a range of networking technologies.Experience within the following areas will be particularly valuable:

You don’t need to be the most senior engineer in the room, but you should be confident troubleshooting issues, implementing changes and working collaboratively within a wider infrastructure team.Strong communication skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach will help you succeed in this environment.
