Strategic Planning & Leadership:

• Lead the collaborative execution of the district’s technology vision, aligning digital learning, network infrastructure, resource allocation, and support systems with the district’s long-term mission and strategic plan.
• Advise the Board of Education and district leadership on both administrative and instructional technology initiatives, trends, and investments.
• Establish an organizational climate that is receptive to staff and stakeholder needs, fostering innovation and continuous digital growth across all school sites.

Instructional Technology & Professional Development:

• Oversee the design and execution of a comprehensive professional development plan for teachers, instructional leaders, and computer lab facilitators to promote effective technology integration in the classroom.
• Facilitate the development, vetting, and selection of high-quality digital curriculum resources, instructional software, and digital learning tools aligned with state standards and district goals.
• Provide consultative and technical support to building-level leaders to increase teacher efficacy in leveraging educational technology to support diverse learners.

Infrastructure, Operations & Technical Support:

• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of district-wide local area networks (LANs), wireless infrastructure, cloud systems, network cabling, and external telecommunication connections.
• Recommends, procures, and manages appropriate hardware, software, user devices, and system architectures across all instructional and administrative facilities.
• Establish systemic procedures to support school and administrative personnel in maintaining and troubleshooting technology equipment efficiently.

Data Systems, Assessment & Accountability:

• Support the administration of local, state, and federally mandated digital assessments in coordination with the Research and Accountability department.
• Evaluate the return on investment (ROI) and overall effectiveness of all district-wide software platforms, hardware systems, and digital learning programs to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational success.
• Coordinate the preparation and submission of state and local technology status reports, program evaluations, and compliance audits (including Media and Technology reports).

Budget, Procurement & Vendor Management:

• Develop and manage the annual technology budget, ensuring funds are strategically allocated to support district-wide instructional priorities and infrastructure upgrades.
• Coordinate and manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure all contracted technology systems, software platforms, and hardware maintain high standards of reliability and compliance.
• Identify external grant opportunities and work collaboratively to secure supplemental funding for innovative technology initiatives across the district.

Personnel Management & Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Business Systems Analyst, Instructional Technology Administrators, Network Systems Administrators Special Projects Administrator, and technical and network support personnel.
• Work collaboratively with cross-departmental teams (Curriculum and Instruction, Finance, Operations, Student Services) to streamline administrative operations and support instructional programs.
• Supervise the effective and efficient implementation of technology programs in compliance with local, state, and federal laws (including CIPA, FERPA, and student data privacy regulations).

Community Outreach & Professional Growth:

• Prepare and deliver oral and written presentations regarding technology initiatives, privacy updates, and program successes to the Board of Education, school leaders, staff, and community stakeholders.
• Keep informed about emerging technologies, current industry trends, and national research through attendance at conferences, professional meetings, and active network involvement.
• Serves as a team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer-driven, and valuing diversity.
• Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATION: The Executive Director of Technology must hold a Master’s Degree or State Certification in Instructional Technology, Educational Leadership, Technology Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. State certification in Administration/Supervision or Technology Education is preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive administrative and supervisory experience in school technology management, instructional technology integration, and enterprise IT operations.

This role requires demonstrated experience with district-level technology infrastructure design, networking standards, vendor contract management, and cybersecurity best practices. The ideal candidate will have a clear track record of successfully integrating technology into instructional programs to improve student learning outcomes, eliminate disparities, and drive organizational efficiency., Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
