Java Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable web applications, robust backend services, and cloud-based solutions. This role requires a hands-on, pragmatic engineer who thrives across the Java/Spring ecosystem, builds clean REST APIs, integrates cloud infrastructure, and actively contributes to CI/CD workflows., * Application Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain robust enterprise applications using Java SDK 21.

• Framework Engineering: Build and enhance microservices and backend systems using Spring Boot and the broader Spring Framework.
• API & Integrations: Architect, build, and consume RESTful APIs and JSON-based integrations.
• Front-End Support: Support lightweight web interfaces utilizing Thymeleaf, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Integrate with AWS cloud services, specifically Amazon ECS, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Maintain source control in GitLab and build, optimize, and troubleshoot automated GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Support cloud provisioning and automation efforts utilizing Terraform.
• Engineering Best Practices: Conduct code reviews, establish maintainable design patterns, produce comprehensive technical documentation, and adhere to secure coding principles.
• AI-Assisted Development: Leverage modern AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to optimize development velocity and software quality.

The ideal candidate works comfortably and independently while collaborating effectively with both technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders., * Extensive hands-on experience in enterprise Java application development.

• Professional experience with Java 21 or recent Java SDK versions.
• Strong expertise building microservices and web applications with Spring Boot / Spring Framework.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and securing REST APIs and handling complex JSON payloads.
• Solid understanding of core front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Proficiency with Git source code management, specifically within GitLab.
• Direct experience writing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated experience deploying and supporting workloads in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Must be local to the Denver metropolitan area to accommodate the weekly on-site schedule.

Preferred

• Server-side rendering and templating experience with Thymeleaf.
• Direct implementation experience with Amazon ECS, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
• Hands-on experience writing and modifying Terraform templates for cloud infrastructure.
• Professional daily usage of IntelliJ IDEA.
• Experience with AI-assisted code generation tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor).

• Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid - 1 day on-site per week on Tuesdays, remote rest of week)
• Engagement Type: Contract
• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM MST)
